- EGEdward GondolfMay 7, 20265.0We are amazed at what Meadow Creek Design was able to accomplish at our 50-year-old house, which was in dire need of an update: a total remodel of the kitchen, dining room, living room, and entrance that included taking down two walls and replacing them with a 30-foot beam. And what's more, they were able to do it on time (3 months) and within budget! This is due to Design's Barb Woycik, who led the project with such vision, planning, knowledge, connections, and follow-through. Barb was always readily available amidst the many decisions and questions that come up with such a project. Her experience and contacts were able to raise possibilities and solve challenges (e.g., what to do with the back door in the kitchen area). In the midst of it all, Barb was always cheerful, patient, understanding, informed, and thoughtful. And she brought ideas of what was possible and how to achieve them--far beyond anything we could imagine. Another bonus was the contractors/workers that Barb was able to bring together to achieve the project (especially James Simmons, who seamlessly moved through everything from installing cabinets, tiling floors, painting ceilings and walls, installing ceiling lights, etc.). Each contractor was a master craftsman who was faithfully on the job, could figure out needs, and add helpful suggestions, all beyond what might normally be expected. They were each a joy to work with. Moreover, Barb was able to identify ideal materials and sources for the remodel--from faucets to fireplace stone. I can hardly imagine what it would be like without Barb's direction and the work of the team she assembled. We have nothing but praise -- along with our amazement. Not sure why, but I think it was because we question the outrageous pricing of their installers, or, they do not support LBTGQ families. They were very unresponsive to our requests towards the end. We had our work done by High Country in Golden and saved 25% on materials and 50% overall for labor for an awesome product.

How long will my remodel take from start to finish?
All renovation projects are different, so there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. In general, a full-service design project timeline looks like this:
Onboarding: 1-2 weeks. This takes place from the moment we meet to when we sign the agreement and begin your design. Our process typically starts with a complimentary one-hour consultation at your home or in our showroom. At this meeting, we explain our entire process, discuss your project goals, and ensure we're a good fit. To get started, you can reach out by phone or fill out the contact form on our website. This time involves getting to know one another, preparing, and signing the Design & Sales Agreement, which also outlines our design fee for your project.
Design: 4-8 weeks. Depending on the size and scope of your renovation, this phase could also be longer or shorter. Once the agreement is signed and we receive your design fee, we put your project into our queue and get to work creating a Project Scope. We do this by detailing all aspects of your project and taking measurements of your current space so we can create as-built drawings. Then the fun begins and we start concept drawings! Approximately three or four weeks later, we meet at our showroom to present initial concept drawings and discuss palette options. Roughly two weeks after that, we meet again to present your final design and complete your material selections. We also provide a project allowance budget at this meeting, so you'll have a ballpark estimate of material costs. Upon completion of this meeting, we set up a time to review detailed drawings, specifications, and material selections and obtain your sign-off. This meeting is usually about a week later as we prepare detailed, dimensioned drawings and update the allowance budget with your actual selections and costs. Between the first and second meetings (once we have a complete Project Scope and final design), we recommend contractors for you to meet for labor estimates.
Procurement: Upon your sign-off and receipt of your payment, we order your project materials. We place all orders within one week and then we wait for items to ship and arrive at our showroom or warehouse in Denver. Materials can start arriving anywhere from three to 18 weeks! COVID-19, supply chain and transportation issues have made this timeframe very unpredictable. Cabinet timeframes have one of the longest lead times with 12-16 weeks for manufacturing and shipping estimates.
Construction/Installation: We typically start construction just before all materials are scheduled to arrive in Denver. Of course, this depends on the size and scope of construction necessary for your remodel. Some projects require construction to start several weeks or months prior to the arrival of materials to ensure we're ready for your installation.
