I purposely looked for a low-overhead, local, small business for the replacement blinds needed. San Diego Shade was the PERFECT choice, matching on every point including affordability, selection and above all else - GREAT SERVICE. We ended up getting a perfect matched color, so we didn't have to replace a couple that we never put down near the extra fancy ones that the sun had destroyed that we inherited 20+ years ago when we moved in. They have tons of options and are priced fairly.

San Diego Shade installed motorized Hunter Douglas (HD) shades in our Coronado Shores condo in 2019. The shades been working just great since then - we love the convenience, the privacy, and their ability to block the morning sun. However, we were away for a couple of months and when we came back in January 2024 the shade closest to the beach had stopped working. The HD app on my iPhone showed no battery and no wifi connection. We tried all the things HD recommended but none of them worked. The batteries had corroded inside the battery tube and when we put new batteries in the tube the app still showed no battery and no wifi.
We called SD Shade and Matt Tregidga came out right away. Matt figured out the problem: the connection inside the shade had corroded and "fried" the tube. In addition, replacing one tube with another tube of batteries fried that tube too! Matt took the shade down and sent it back to Hunter Douglas and also ordered replacement tubes (the equipment thankfully was still on warranty!).
Matt really went "above and beyond" in a second way too. He also figured out how to program our shades so that each of them worked individually. We have two remotes, one on the wall and a mobile remote. We have SEVEN shades and the remotes only have SIX buttons and an ALL button so it's impossible to program all seven shades + ALL on one remote. (Anyone who has 7 or more shades has the same problem - why HD doesn't make a remote that has a dozen shades on it, I don't know.) We had had two shades on one button but if either of the paired shades didn't run correctly, there was no way to adjust them individually using the HD app or remote. We wanted to have all 7 shades individually on the two remotes and still have the ALL button working on both remotes. It's an interesting math puzzle but we worked it out! (Interestingly, the problem is noted on the HD website but HD does NOT give you the answer.) Kudos to Matt Tregidga for working with us to figure out how to program the remotes correctly and then programming them for us.
If you're looking to install motorized shades, we highly recommend Hunter Douglas (the shades and warranty are great). You also need San Diego Shade as your local "partner" to pick out, install and manage the shades over their lifetime (which we hope is at least as long as our lifetimes!). Kudos to Matt Tregidga and San Diego Shade - 5 Stars!

Updating this review to June 2025. A second Hunter Douglas battery wand died (beach sun is hard) and Matt came out and replaced it free of charge. Amazing! Thank you! We will pay it forward.

My need was for shade on the West side of two Tropical Shade Palapas. One Palapa is a 14 foot diameter four post and the other is a rectangle 11 X 17 with four round posts. Billy measured within a day for the shade sizes and both were custom designed and work well. They block the U V rays plus wind and you can still see through. When the product was ready to install they came with two installers and finished in the morning. Neat clean and nice! Color matched too.
