Since becoming a customer, I’ve received repeated rate hike notices, including increases of over 100%, roughly every six months. The company claims these increases are due to “market conditions,” but from my experience, it feels like a bait-and-switch: get customers in at one rate, then raise prices aggressively once their belongings are already stored there.
This also appears consistent with the large number of customer complaints filed with the BBB about Extra Space Storage and its pricing practices.
Storage pricing should be transparent and predictable. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
