After spending months trying to resolve these issues privately, I believe future homeowners deserve to know about my experience with DWOC.
I hired them after terminating my previous contractor due to serious performance issues. Sabrina knew that situation and assured me her company would provide the oversight, documentation, and professionalism that had been missing. I also made it clear I would be traveling internationally during much of the project and needed the remodel managed in my absence. I remained available by phone and email throughout.
Unfortunately, the project became extremely stressful. The recurring issues were not isolated mistakes, but a pattern involving billing disputes, missing documentation, communication breakdowns, workmanship concerns, and unresolved warranty issues.
1) Change Orders - Additional charges were presented after work had already been performed rather than approved in advance.
2) Structural Documentation - I paid for exploratory work so structural conditions could be inspected and documented. Despite repeatedly requesting it, they could not deliver this critical engineering documentation that I was promised.
3) Post-Completion & Warranty - Several significant problems including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and appliance-related issues were discovered after the project was declared complete. Warranty service was refused unless I paid disputed charges, forcing me to hire outside licensed professionals to diagnose and correct work I had already paid for.
4) Workmanship - Independent professionals identified numerous workmanship deficiencies requiring extensive punch lists and additional repairs after DWOC considered the project complete. For a company charging premium prices, I expected a much higher level of quality control.
5) Documentation - My requests for warranty information and proof of purchase for major materials and fixtures were repeatedly denied.
I paid the overwhelming majority of the project cost. The remaining dispute involved charges I questioned only after months of requesting clarification, documentation, and correction of unresolved issues.
Construction projects are complicated and mistakes happen. My concern was not any single issue, but the overall pattern of how concerns were handled. Reasonable requests for clarification were often met with defensiveness rather than transparency.
After my project ended, I spoke with other former DWOC clients who described experiences that, in my opinion, shared several similarities with mine.
Every statement in this review is supported by emails, invoices, photographs, and other documentation retained throughout the project.
There are aspects of the finished remodel that I like, and there were DWOC employees who were helpful and professional. However, had I known the amount of additional time, expense, and effort required to resolve these issues, I would have made a different decision.

Designing Women and their team of designers were an invaluable resource for me. i had work done by a contractor who had claimed to be licensed but was not. (Always check on licenses of your contractors.). The job was a disaster and they would not remedy it, so I called Sabrina and she came out within two days to assess the situation. Her expertise was so refreshing and validating. She helped me with what to do next. I'm so grateful and will always call Designing Women first on any project for my house. Don’t make the same mistake I made.
