Extra Space in Fair Oaks is exceptional in every way. The complex is incredibly clean. Only customers are allowed in the premises, no people off the street. Kristina who assisted me was very professional with fantastic customer service. I would absolutely recommend the Extra Space in Fair Oaks.

In the 2 years I had the storage unit my rent went up 45% with no additional benefit to me. That is a usury practice that should be illegal! I gave 30 day notice on the company’s website but the office won’t refund my prorated rent due to me because I didn’t call the office and request that my rent be refunded for the 10 days I did not occupy the unit, prior to my monthly payment being collected electronically from my bank! I hope whoever reads this takes HEED!! You’ve been warned!

My online rate of $94 was suddenly doubled to $188 after 6 months. It's a shame because the physical facility itself is actually great, very clean, and access is easy, so the property isn't the problem at all. The issue is the corporate pricing practices and the terrible local management. When I called to discuss the increase, the facility manager (asked for her name and did not get it) immediately got defensive and asked if she should just "process my move out" rather than trying to find a resolution. When I asked why she was assuming I wanted to leave instead of just trying to fix the bill the conversation became super unprofessional. She eventually said she had to look at the numbers and offered to lower the rate to $171. Because I had already paid the $188, I asked the logical question of how that would work and if I would receive an $18 credit. She said "not necessarily" and asked what I wanted. When I reiterated that standard math dictates I should get an $18 credit on my account, she accused me of being "condescending," told me she was hanging up until I "cooled down," and hung up on me. Did not get a call back. Hanging up on a customer who is doing basic math to solve a billing issue that you offered is completely unacceptable. The corporate phone tree just routes you right back to this same office. I'm a paying customer looking for a District Manager to contact me to resolve this billing madness AND address the conduct of the staff here.
