  Storage is not what I would call inexpensive in the South Bay area. Truly, Storage companies could get way with doing very little service. That is not what I found. The rental process was simple. All contracts were clear. But do read them. Omar was also great at explaining them if you are not into reading. The space was clean and clear. Omar personally walked us there. So far great customer service and a great space.

  Worst experience with a storage facility. Onsite manager, Omar, is bothersome, nosy, meddling and controlling. He’s creepy. He watches your every move on the cameras. It’s a bit stalker-ish and concerning. They let dogs on the facility. I was approached by a barking dog the minute the elevator opened as I tried to get into the elevator. There is also a hill at the elevator entrance, making moving your belongings into the facility extremely difficult. I can handle the hill. This experience with the “needs to get a life” manager was unbearable. I was at my last storage unit for 3 years and was completely satisfied. At my last storage facility, I was allowed to go about my business without the need to be a micro-managed customer. Be wary.

  Let me spell this out CLEARLY. This is going to be a negative review. I will spell out the good things first but then comes the pain. The location I was using was formerly Life Storage which was a decent facility to rent from until Extra Space Storage took over. The Good: *Friendly staff and that is expected. *The access hours are generous. The office hours are normal for any business. *The facilities are clean BUT the location on Normandy and 190th street had a bad rodent problem for a few months AFTER Extra Space Storage bought out Life Storage who I originally was renting a space from before Extra Space Storage took over. The problem was dealt with but still... Now for the bad: The rent increases are every 4 months and then comes the BIG rent increases. This place is a STORAGE TRAP. Introductory offers are one thing as long as they spell out the true monthly rate. EXTRA SPACE STORAGE PLAYS SHELL GAMES WITH YOU!!! They do not tell you about how they increase rent. Extra Space Storage is owned by a Real Estate Equity Firm. They are going to squeeze you for every dollar they can get out of you. If you need long term storage STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS. Find a better storage to deal with. My storage jumped for $240 when I took out a 10' x 12' and went to $260, then $280. Then a week after I wound up in a collision that wiped out my truck I get a notice my rent was going up to $329 NOT COUNTING THE INSURANCE. I can BARELY afford to keep up with all my financial responsibilities. I am for the most part stuck waiting for the rotten economy to break for the positive like pretty much most of the rest of us and here we are with another business bought out by an Equity Firm and the first thing they do is start to squeeze existing customers dry. One of those rent increases also came with NO NOTICE. It was slipped on the bill and I have been so wrapped up in just making enough money just to pay my bills and have just enough left over so I can get something to eat and now they want MORE money for no added benefits to service let alone because they like other businesses are relying on AI to assist in how much they can charge and get away with it. To them YOU ARE A CASH COW AND THEY ARE GOING TO MILK YOU UNTIL YOUR UTTERS ARE SHRIVELED AND ONLY EXPEL DUST. Do business with them at your peril. Literally when I was hauling my life out of there (regrettably into another storage but one where I am not being mislead by an introductory rate) there were at least five other units being cleared out one of them having been this Extra Space Storage taking advantage of an elderly woman who they had jacked the rate on their unit up to a whopping $800 a month and their unit was only marginally larger than the 10 x 12 I was renting. I am wholly appalled and dissatisfied with my time there and I feel like I was treated not like a valued customer let alone offered ANY financial respect. I never had any experience like this with ANY OTHER STORAGE I HAVE EVER USED OVER THE YEARS! Extra Space Storage... JUST SAY NO! If I could offer NO STARS I would. They made my life way more difficult at a time I could not afford them trying to squeeze me for money I do not make. My experience with Extra Space Storage has been HORRIBLE! I feel ripped off and taken advantage of by them and I wish I would have left them when Extra Space took over. Oh well, lesson learned! Life goes on. At least I am paying WAY less now and not having to pay them any more.
