  I didn't have a very good experience at all and number one they keep taking my review down. I was running late moving from Phoenix and had to get a storage unit rented right away and I couldn't get it rented on the app for nothing so I had to go into the office and I meant Layla and she was dishonest about the size of the storage unit the fact that it had two locks on it I would totally surprised and then she said told me not to hang out in my storage unit and I felt as though she was somehow trying to stereotype me but the worst part about it was just being so surprised because some of these small units have two doors on my large door to open. Her tone is inappropriate manages with threats and vindictiveness.

  I am formally reporting serious concerns regarding my experience with American Self Storage on 8050 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ. After inheriting five storage units from my father’s estate in August 2025, I encountered ongoing issues that I believe demonstrate unprofessional and improper business practices. Key issues include: • Refusal to allow access to my paid units after I provided cash payment. • Locks being cut without proper authorization. • Overcharges, including what appeared to be duplicated fees for rent and insurance. • Cancellation of insurance that had already been paid in full. • Claims that I did not provide written notice to vacate despite having proof that I did. • Attempting to change my vacate date to an earlier date than agreed. • Refusal to accept payment and instead applying funds toward auction fees that I dispute. • Refusal to refund charges I believe were wrongfully applied. • Adding charges that I have documentation showing were already paid. Additionally, I was told I could not transfer the units into my name unless I first removed all contents, cleaned the units, and passed inspection before re-renting them in my name. This process was inconsistent and did not appear to follow standard storage facility procedures. When I requested clarification regarding the disputed charges, management declined to explain them and advised me to obtain legal counsel. I have retained all receipts, written correspondence, and supporting documentation regarding these matters. I am seeking: • A full accounting and explanation of all charges • Refund of any improperly assessed fees • Written confirmation of account status • Review of management practices at this location I encourage customers to maintain detailed records of all payments and communications.

  I want to share my honest experience on the time i have used this storage. Im unsure why the bad reviews because they are the farthest from the truth. I see both women often working on the property inside and out. Have always gone above and beyond for myself and others i have referred trying to find the best prices space or simply smiling or waiving offering water when its hot and much much more. The newer manager is fantastic and I have seen the positive changes already. Keep up the good work ladies. Dont let others having a bad day ruin your smile or perseverance. I hope higher management sees this and expresses this to both the women who work hard to make this a safe and welcoming storage option in the valley. Thank you for reading.
