My last review was too long so it’s separated here’s the rest I am sharing this experience because customers deserve to know what they may be dealing with before allowing employees into their homes and entrusting them with their property. If you are currently doing business with this location, I highly encourage you to get out and look elsewhere. Should you choose to proceed, document EVERYTHING. Record! If employees come to your home, document the condition of your property before and after service whenever possible. And record the entire time. That’s the mistake we made, not recording. For us, this situation has gone far beyond a simple customer service disagreement. It involved alleged threats, threats against taking a life, removal of property we maintain was already paid in full, property damage, disrespectful conduct, and what we believe was an inadequate response from management. I never expected things to end this way. I sincerely hope corporate takes the concerns raised here seriously and reviews how this incident was handled from beginning to end. I hope employees are being held responsible for their actions and something is being done going further. And I hope they treat the next with a whole lot more respect than we’ve been given.

I genuinely regret having to write this, especially after nearly two years of what had previously been a positive relationship with the general manager, Robert. Unfortunately, the way our recent situation was handled has completely changed my opinion of this location, and I strongly encourage anyone considering a rent to own agreement with this store to carefully reconsider their decision. What occurred during a recent appliance pickup was completely unacceptable. Appliances that we had already paid in full were removed from our property without our authorization or a signed acknowledgment that we were continuing to let them service them. We repeatedly instructed the employees to unload our property and leave the premises, yet they proceeded to take the appliances anyway. A theft report has since been filed with Aaron’s and is active, and despite our repeated requests, the property has still not been returned. More concerning, one of the employees, Michael, made extremely serious verbal threats toward my household and myself, including statements about shooting our home up (when I have two little kids) and putting me “10 feet under.” Those statements were completely inappropriate and made us feel that additional safety precautions were necessary. My husband legally carries a firearm and had it secured on his hip. He did not threaten or brandish it toward anyone. Given the threats that had already been made against our household, my husbands concern for our safety was warranted. During the incident, another employee began recording my husband while focusing on the fact that he was carrying his firearm, despite the circumstances surrounding the situation. The way this was subsequently portrayed felt completely misleading and did not accurately reflect what occurred. What makes this even more disappointing is that the GM was made aware of the situation directly after speaking to my husband and, in my opinion, failed to adequately address the conduct of his employees. Instead of resolving the situation appropriately, he took the side of his workers and were allowed to leave per the GM’s request with our paid off property after we explicitly told them not to take it. I also escalated the matter through corporate and it has been sent to DBP. There was also property damage during the pickup. My dryer was dented, and the electrical outlet where the dryer had been plugged in was damaged or shorted. We were told by Aaron’s directly they do not take the blame when initially Robert the GM admitted over the phone that their loaner dryer could’ve had more power than ours and caused it to short but is now trying to put the blame on us and play the victims with attempts to suggest that the outlet was already defective. That does not make sense when our dryer had been operating normally and drying clothes before their employees arrived and disconnected it. I was repeatedly called derogatory names, including being referred to as a “b*tch,” while I was attempting to explain our power outlet was just fine until the workers unplugged and took our dryer out. When I called the store afterward seeking assistance, I could hear Kristen and Sarah making comments like “that’s her” while I was on the phone. I was intentionally mocked and put ON HOLD until the store closed rather than receiving meaningful assistance. At one point, Sarah initially indicated that different employees would be sent out to correct the damage caused during the pickup same day. That position appeared to change after the employees returned to the store, leaving the issue unresolved. It’s disappointing because we had previously been long term customers and were willing to continue doing business with Aaron’s. Instead, the way this incident was handled has resulted in us completely losing trust in this location. The GM was more concerned about fulfilling his vacation. This also was not the first time we experienced damage involving his employees which I chose not to make a major issue at the time. Looking back, I should have considered it a warning sign.

Renting from Aaron’s started as a decent experience, but it quickly changed. They like to jack up what you own them if you’re late with a payment by 2-4x what is actually owed. Be weary of doing business. Nice folks at the front, but the guy in charge of accounts can be a snake.
