We’ve been renting our unit here since March and chose the climate-controlled option because we were told it was clean, sprayed monthly, and had excellent pest control. Everything seemed fine until today when we had our movers take out most of our items — and to our shock, several boxes were infested with live roaches. We found roaches stuck to the tape on our TV box, inside our gym equipment boxes, and even droppings in the printer and office supply boxes. Now we have to fumigate our entire garage before opening anything, blow everything off, and wipe or wash every single item. When I spoke with the front desk, the lady admitted they started seeing roaches last month and that “someone must have brought them in.” That’s not acceptable — we paid extra for climate control and cleanliness, and now we’re stuck dealing with the disgusting mess and hours of cleaning and decontamination. Good thing we decided to sell most of our furniture, but my wife had sentimental items passed down to her that are now ruined from roach contamination — simply because the unit wasn’t properly maintained or sealed. I’ve even attached a video showing live roaches trapped on our TV box. What makes it worse is they didn’t even offer any sort of compensation — just said, “We’ll spray it after you move out.” Really? What about the other units that still have them now? This whole experience has been a complete headache and a total letdown after trusting that our belongings would be safe and clean while waiting for our house to be finished.
