I don’t usually write reviews, but after what can only be described as a life-saving crafting intervention, I feel morally obligated.
I arrived at Hobby Lobby in a state of quiet panic. You see, I had been commissioned to complete a highly specialized piece of art in the ancient and deeply misunderstood medium of Victorian-era ornamental moss filigree shadowboxing (don’t Google it—you either know, or you’re not ready). My mentor—an intense woman who communicates exclusively through long stares and handwritten notes—made it very clear: failure was not an option.
I had already been to three other stores. Blank stares. Confusion. One employee whispered, “I don’t think that’s real.” I was losing hope.
And then… Hobby Lobby.
Not only did they have what I needed—they had options. Preserved moss in shades I can only describe as “haunted forest dusk.” Filigree tools. Shadowboxes that practically whispered, “finish the commission… fulfill your destiny…” I stood there in awe, like an archaeologist who had just discovered a lost civilization… but with better lighting and seasonal décor.
I ended up spending over six hours in the store. At one point I blacked out (emotionally) in the ribbon aisle and came to holding things I don’t remember picking up—but deeply needed. Time does not function normally in Hobby Lobby. It expands. It folds. You enter at 2 PM and suddenly it is night and you have redefined yourself as a person.
Also—and I don’t say this lightly—the bathrooms? Immaculate. Not just clean… inspiring. I walked in needing a break and walked out with three new ideas and a renewed sense of purpose. I’m fairly certain the tile arrangement was telling a story.
Thanks to Hobby Lobby, I completed my piece. My mentor nodded once. A single nod. If you know, you know—that’s basically a standing ovation.
In conclusion: whether you’re a casual crafter or desperately trying to avoid artistic disgrace in a niche, possibly imaginary discipline, Hobby Lobby will come through for you.
10/10.
Would lose track of time and identity here again.

The selection here is good, but their lack of tap-to-pay is disappointing in this day and age. More importantly, the store had no flexibility to allow an overnight hold of our large order we had just spent effort and time shopping for. We were checking out 5 minutes before they closed and I requested to hold just until 15 minutes after opening in the morning. Told firmly no with no offer to check with a manager or any other solution. We went to Michael’s immediately, which was open later and offered tap-to-pay, and we’ll just plan to go there in the future.
