My monthly rate jumped from $247 to $315 with no prior notice. So what am I expected to do....move all of my stuff out of my 10x30 unit with a 1-2 day notice?!? On top of that, their app was slow to update, so the new amount didn’t even show up for several days. I checked the app every day for three days to make my payment and never saw the adjusted amount appear. I then had to leave on a business trip and got wrapped up with work. When I finally logged back in on my way home, I discovered a $62 late fee for being just one day late. When I called, the “General Manager” told me I’d had a six-day grace period, but refused to acknowledge that the first three days—when their own system wasn’t showing the updated price—were on me, not them. For context, I had previously paid four months in advance specifically to avoid issues like this. Then out of nowhere, my rate jumped by $68 with zero warning or communication. I don’t have a problem with Extra Space Storage as a company overall, but my experience with this particular location has been extremely disappointing. Between the lack of transparency, the surprise price increase, and the unwillingness to take responsibility, I CANNOT recommend this location to anyone.
