The customer service here has been on the decline for the past six months or so. I prefer Lowe's but an experience with their blinds and the staff cost them a carpet installation sale. We went to another provider for four rooms of carpet not trusting Lowe's to be reliable. They were poorly staffed the morning we went into to finalize a bid on blinds and installation. We waited ten minutes or longer for a clearly overworked carpet sales rep to try and cobble together the sale. During the time he was trying to help us he tried to delegate a simple task to another employee; who was recalcitrant to say the least. It all got tied up with the store assistant manager coming to assist the rep with the sale. We also addressed the recalcitrant employee with the manager; who discreetly indicated he was aware of him; and not in a good way. This is a watershed moment for their customer service decline. We've been ignored when asking for help and have literally had employees turn around and head the other way when we are walking the aisles looking for something. The only sure place to get attention is at the self checkout where their loss prevention teams are on their job. There are other hardware stores, carpet, paint and blinds stores, garden supply centers and lumberyards within reasonable driving distance of my home. The rewards offered by Lowe's don't offset poor customer treatment so we will start using the other resources. This is a shame really because we liked using the convenience of Lowe's. My hope is that this post results in a focused reinvigoration of customer service so everyone benefits from it.

I have to tell you, I was there the other day at the League city location, and was helped by an associate named Jayce. This guy was freakin' awesome! Jayce could really teach people a thing or two about how to work with customers. Not only was he polite and professional, he was also very knowledgeable about the different departments and products we were inquiring about. Whatever this guy makes, please consider giving him a raise! Yes, he was that good and left an excellent impression on a person that understands how important it is in dealing with the public!
