I spent $2500 in the store and nearly asked for my money back at the time of purchase because the sales representative (Jeremy) stated, after I told him the furniture is for my house, "I can't believe the things ' kids ' are putting in their apartments these days." - Dude I'm 38 years old, own a home, a business, and work my ass off. Who says stuff like that? What a bizarre thing to say to a paying customer you're trying to help by doing your job.
When I corrected him and told him it's for a house, my house, he stated: "I guess those ag checks pay pretty well." I'm assuming he thought I was spending my parents money, rich kid, generational agriculture Aggie money. - Again, very off-putting, rude, and weird. I was one smart ass comment away from asking for a complete and total refund.
I spent $2500 on furniture and a lion glass painting. I arranged to pick up all the items bought the following day because delivery was an estimated 2x weeks delayed. I live 2 miles from the store and it would have taken 2x weeks to deliver all products bought. Oh well, who cares; I have a truck I'll pick up the furniture and painting myself.
The following day I arrive at the store and the furniture has plastic wrap on it (that's it), and the tempered glass painting is wrapped in a cardboard box with tape. A horrible job protecting a tempered glass painting of any kind in my opinion.
Now I should have known better, sure, maybe I should of put the painting in the back seat, or made a second trip, but I strapped it with ratchet straps in the bed of the truck. 25 - 50 ft from leaving the parking lot, the painting snapped in two pieces, and completely shattered.
I called the store, left 2 messages, and finally the weird/rude sales associate (Jeremy) called me back the day after.
It turns out, as he explains, I'm fully responsible for the damages (even though the painting was wrapped in cardboard on pick-up, so I never saw it), and there's nothing the store is willing to do for compensation or a discount. I just figured, after spending $2500 dollars in 1 day at the furniture store, that management, insurance, or warranty would be willing to help a valuable customer replace the glass tempered lion painting that I purchased.
It gets better though. The sales associate Jeremy had another zinger of a statement. He said - " You told your uncle (68 years old who helped me load the furniture and painting into my truck) that if he breaks the painting, then he buys the painting, so why don't you get him to buy you a new one?"
Can you believe the audacity of this guy? Such a derogatory statement. What a horrible sales experience. I'll never go back here and beware of the costs. Local delivery is 2x weeks out. Mattress Mack in Houston delivered my leather couch, bed w/frame, and everything within 2 hours of purchasing.
Someone should do something about the painting. I own some of the responsibility for damages, but Furniture Row owns the terrible packaging job of the painting, the atrocious sales experience, and the rude comments from Jeremy.
I don't expect a full refund, although maybe it's worthy of one, but at least some kind of deal, fairness, or replacement option of sorts. To be completely shutdown, offended, and talked to inappropriately is unacceptable.
Sincerely,
Kyle M.
