I didn’t find out until I was already at checkout, where there was a small sign on the register. When I asked if there was any other way to pay, the cashier repeatedly said “we don’t do tap” in a very rude and dismissive tone, canceled the transaction, and essentially waited for me to leave. I understand store policies, but the lack of clear communication and the unfriendly customer service made for a frustrating experience. A simple sign at the entrance and a more courteous response would go a long way.
