- PPPatrickOct 20, 20251.0Extra Space Storage seems to be borderline a bait and switch operation. Within 3 months my rate has doubled. I know that a lot of self storage places do this but this is the worst I've seen. None of this is disclosed beforehand of course and they charge an admin fee and utilize a lock type that's less common so you have to buy it from then. That wouldn't be bad if they kept their rates reasonable for at least a few month, I could stomach a little bit of upfront costs but when they ratchet up the rates so absurdly charging these upfront fees seems dishonest. Will be moving. PS anytime you see reviews where specific employee names are mentioned in every review, know that those reviews are not quite authentic. It's a common and manipulative pressure tactic used whereby an employee asks you to leave a review for them on the Google review page. It's a psychological trick as most people feel bad as they associate the review with the person and not the business.
