I'm a federal employee directly impacted by the current government shutdown, which has left me without income through no fault of my own. I'm currently three months behind on payments due to financial difficulties, and the shutdown has made my situation even more dire. I contacted Erica hoping to arrange a payment plan and offered to make a good faith payment to demonstrate my commitment to settling my account once the government reopens and I receive back pay. Unfortunately, Extra Space Storage refused to work with me and plans to auction my unit on November 12th if I cannot pay in full—which is impossible given that I have no paycheck coming in during the shutdown. I'm struggling to afford groceries, let alone storage fees. It's disheartening that a national company would show zero compassion for federal workers caught in circumstances completely beyond their control. I understand businesses have policies, but the inability to offer any flexibility during a government shutdown affecting thousands of employees speaks volumes about their priorities. I hope potential customers consider how this company treats people during times of genuine crisis
