- RWRick WaltmanJan 30, 20262.0I have six storage units. I was average paying in the middle to high $300’s per month for 10x20 storage units. I then see on their website I can rent the same size units for about $170ish per month for 10x20 units provided I book it on their website myself. I then move all 6 units and save myself about $1,000 per month in costs which is a big deal to me and think it would be to most folks. I then find out from the manager that Extra Space is geared more to short term renters so at about the 6 month mark, they will begin increasing my monthly costs. While filling out the form for the new units on-line to secure the new units, the survey asks how many months I plan to spend and I chose 12 months+. I don’t agree with their model of increasing costs over time especially when the original prices is not marketed as an introductory price. Shouldn’t loyal and long-term renters be rewarded in some way versus being forced to move to another unit?!?! Saving about $200 per unit/per month is a pretty big deal. I guess this is the way they choose to operate and treat their loyal customers and I don’t have to use their services in the future. I do understand that sometimes market conditions change and costs increase from year to year increasing costs just because someone has been using their services for more than 6+ months should not be the driving factor to increasing the monthly rate.
