On December 2, 2025, I ordered and fully paid several thousand dollars to Lowe’s for custom windows for a renovation project. Two months later, I discovered that despite taking payment, Lowe’s never actually placed the order.
They accepted the funds and failed to submit the product.
Because I quoted my client based on pricing Lowe’s initially provided, I later learned that the quote shown to me was an internal store price — significantly lower than what I was ultimately charged. From the start, due to internal mismanagement and poor communication, this job was already operating at a loss.
The situation worsened when I realized:
• My project has now been delayed over two months
• The property is a rental home, resulting in two months of lost rental income for my client
• I had to personally contact the regional sales manager for the window manufacturer to manually override Lowe’s system just to get the product into production
The store manager was unable to locate my order in the system. The assistant store manager, Kendrick, appeared largely unbothered by the severity of the situation. I have made multiple trips to the store attempting to resolve this. I have spent hours on customer service calls. Beyond the financial damage caused by not having my product, I have now invested substantial additional time simply trying to fix Lowe’s mistake — with, at this point, negative success.
This is now the fifth order in a row where Lowe’s has failed to provide product exactly as paid for.
Two orders ago, when a similar issue occurred, a $600 gift card was offered as “compensation.” I will not accept a $600 gift card as resolution for thousands of dollars in financial impact, project delay, and client income loss.
Anyone who runs a renovation company understands the overhead involved — labor, scheduling, material coordination, carrying costs, and client accountability. Mistakes of this magnitude compound quickly. Lowe’s operational failures have cost both myself and my client substantially more than the value of the product itself.
Two years ago, I was one of the highest purchasers at my local Lowe’s. The decline in operational competence since then is significant and concerning.
I do not leave reviews lightly. But when a company of this size can cost customers thousands of dollars with little urgency, accountability, or meaningful resolution, it warrants public attention.
Lowe’s — step up. Do better. Stop passing the financial burden of internal failures onto your customers.

Yesterday, I picked up quite a bit of lumber. Ryan, who was working the self-checkout, decided he was going to help. Unfortunately, his inability to understand English or how to count meant that I paid for extra pieces of lumber that were not on my cart. I explained that he had scanned too many, but unfortunately, he was not able to understand what I was saying. He just kept shaking his head yes and did not fix the mistake he made.

If you are like me and love saving money, finding deals, and knowing what you want, this is your place. I'm not one of those hardcore boycotters of your local H. Depot types. I'll shop at that store as well. They're more of a do-it-yourself store, and I don't think they're as focused on contractors as Lowe's is. Of course, I can't write this without mentioning the Lowe's outlet store that's guaranteed to cause issues with your other half if you're not careful. They carry all the rich yuppies I'm too good for a scratch, a ding, or a sticker misplaced type of appliances. I couldn't find one thing mechanically wrong with anything I looked at. They're nothing more than misfits, cosmetic issues, minor issues, and appliances. Refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, dryers, washers, windows, and so much more. So, after you leave this fabulous store named Lowe's. Checkout the Lowe's outlet on Laurens Road, right past Big O Dodge, and that great American flag on the left.

It appears that I’ve been charged multiple times for an order. How can I resolve this?
These charges are likely authorization holds that are placed throughout the life cycle of your order to ensure the funds are reserved for your purchase. When you place an order, your payment method is authorized for the full amount of the purchase. As items from your order ship, your payment is charged and the authorization is no longer held by Lowe’s. Orders shipped in multiple shipments will be charged separately at time of shipment; therefore, you may see multiple charges, but they'll never exceed the full amount of your order. For orders with longer lead times, your method of payment will be reauthorized to ensure funds remain available until your item is shipped. If you observe multiple pending authorizations, please contact your financial institution as each bank’s policies differ on how long authorizations are held.
