    A good company can cause damage that outweighs the good they do. Pest-Tec controls pests. For that they get a 5 star rating. HOWEVER Pest-Tec let a criminal to take my check from their business and use info on it to break into my bank account. SO ...For neglecting to protect my information, I go with minus 4 stars... My bank stopped the criminal from taking my life savings. They closed the account. I got home weeks later from vacation and problems started showing up. Bills went unpaid. Power, water, gas, phone, internet, car insurance, home insurance, liability coverage, my doctor, my pharmacy, Lowes... Pension and Social Security checks were not deposited. Medicare payments were not made... Credit cards went overdue. Insurance cancelation notices for home, cars, the RV we were traveling in, the Jeep we were pulling. Cryptic letters from Medicare threatened to end our medical coverage or make us pay higher rates for the rest of our lives... Each took 5,6,7,8 calls to even get through...I think I spent a week on the phone. Social Security must be using 50 year old computers. They say that it will take a few MONTHS to get our checks going again... As an aside... Social Security is close to impossible to talk to. "Wait times are in excess of 120 minutes." Try the local office. They are much easier to get to. Bottom line, my wife was ready to demand that Pest-Tec give us a year's service for free. I think she changed that to two years after month of calling people... This one instance of neglect caused us countless hours of phone calls, unimaginable confusion in talking with more than a dozen organizations to reconnect more than 20 accounts... If you read through this, thanks. I SERIOUSLY suggest that you make some notes about how each of your bills is being paid, with account and phone numbers, handy IDs and passwords too. The pest service is great. However, I cannot think of another company, human, or animal that has aggravated me quite like this.... That beaver that chewed up the teakwood deck on my boat comes close, and I was advised to shoot him. (No, I didn't kill the beaver.) I read this review to my wife. She agrees and added the thought that we contacted them and they have not said one word indicating that they are in the least bit concerned with the trouble they have caused, not a recognition, not an apology, not an offer to reduce our charges, not even a fruit cake at Christmas... UPDATE Here we are at January 17th 2025 and they called, as a result of seeing this review... but only said ...it's not our problem, it was a theft. We were told the check was taken off the desk. That changed to "out of a locked desk." My comment to Pest Tec just now on the phone was "The check should have been in a safe." They say this wasn't neglect, it was a theft. UPDATE 2/18/25 So we got a response on Google (below this review). The owner is "truly sorry to hear about the distressing situation you faced." Thanks. I appreciate that. How about a discount to show sincerity. He says they "we immediately reached out to all affected customers to inform them of the incident and advise them to contact their bank." I'm going to call that one "Not Completely True"... I didn't hear from them. He says "...we are committed to taking all necessary steps to prevent something like this from happening again." That's good. Take my advice and get a safe. Update 2/21/25 Pest-tec came out and checked our place this week. That's good. Update 2/24/25 They sent us a bill with "CASH ONLY" typed on it and highlighted on yellow. I called to see if this was a new policy and if they wanted me to mail them actual green currency... The lady answering said that "He says you need to pay in cash since you seem to have such big problems with checks." ... LOL and I though it was Pest-Tec that allowed my check to be stolen. Oh, they added $10 to our bill... so much for the discount. Can anyone suggest a different pest control company to me?
