Helpful and dedicated staff! I suggest going directly to the location for information as they are more knowledgeable than the customer service phone line.

Insanely predatory. Depotium’s business model is essentially hooking you with shiny promotions then making you sign off your soul to them lest you pay. And god help you if you don’t. If you take a look at the long service contract you sign when renting a unit (which is deliberately hard to read), you’ll see that you’re basically handing off ownership of all your items to them for the duration of your storage. Verbatim, you give them the right to seize and sell your belongings if they so choose, and to change the terms of the contract at any point. This is loan shark levels of financial predation. And god forbid you don’t pay on time, you’ll have your own belongings locked away from you until you do, and if you still don’t, they get to sell them off. Insanity.
I’m a student and needed to temporarily store my items while moving, but the situation ended up taking longer than I thought and I had to pay for 2 months at the regular rate after getting the free month (promotion). Fair enough. However, since I wanted to move my things out a week into October, I didn’t see the point of paying for the whole month and tried to reach the office to discuss that, with no luck. It was a Friday and I needed to have my items out that weekend. Offices being closed, I thought I’d move my things out then come back when they reopen to discuss payment options. Found myself stuck in the warehouse having to explain to my movers why there was an extra lock I couldn’t open on my unit. $150 down the drain. No notification, no security guard on site to take the lock off, no help whatsoever from their emergency line where I was just told to take the L and come back with movers again on a weekday.
Just an all-around violating experience. I’m renting a glorified 5x5 closet, not lending you all my property and the entire contents of my apartment for you to put in time-out because my payment is 5 days late. Even utility companies aren’t that impatient.

I rented unit #5299 at Depotium (Saint-Paul St W) with what was supposed to be a 50% promotion. I planned to keep it for three months but only needed it for two weeks. When I checked my receipt, I saw I’d been charged the full price of $347.74, not the discounted amount.
When I went to cancel, one employee tried to make it seem like I wasn’t owed anything and then told me I couldn’t get a refund for the rest of the month because I “took the promotion” — even though I’d actually been billed at the full price. Another staff member tried to help, but the overall experience was very frustrating.
Depotium should honour their promotions, explain charges clearly, and treat customers fairly when a mistake is made.
