First time getting my pool cleaned professionally. I used Yorktown pools and spa because they are the closest to me that do pool cleanings.
The first time the gentleman came out he was two and a half hours late. We were told he would be there at 8AM to do the pool cleaning. I was instructed to have the filter running for him to clean it.
I waited two and a half hours before turning off the filter and leaving for work.
I guess he then showed up later in the day to the filer being off. Instead of calling me so I could instruct him how to turn on the filter which is basically a light switch next to my pool he left and said he would come back tomorrow.
I later found out that the company charged me for an hour of cleaning that day even though he didn’t clean the pool.
The next day the same gentleman came, on time this time. I had the filter on and ready to go for him.
He said that the filter wasn’t running strong enough for him to clean the pool.
He then again left without cleaning the pool and I was given a second bill in the mail.
I bought a new filter and scheduled a third appointment which they canceled without any notice because I messaged the manager expressing concern that I’m getting all these charges and no actual cleaning has been done. So they cancelled my cleaning appointment with no form of communication.
When I called and complained to the supervisor he said he would come the following day to clean the pool for me.
This being the third visit for him.
He said psi was good. I chemical bombed it the day before so he could see all the dirt in the pool.
My cameras and neighbor informed me that the supervisor was here for about twenty minutes and only used my pool skimmer and then left.
I was charged 100 dollars per visit so 300 in total that I know of so that a supervisor could use my skimmer on the pool.
I’m So confused right now.
There is sand still on the bottom of the pool and leaves and dirt.
I could’ve cleaned it with a skimmer. I thought he would’ve had equipment to clean it better.
Is this normal for a professional pool place to only use a skimmer to clean the pool?

Frequently Asked Questions About Yorktown Pools & Spas
Do I need to clean my mesh winter cover?
Generally, cleaning isn't necessary. However, if substantial debris accumulates, you may need to rinse it off. Remember to alternate the folding direction when storing. Allow the cover to dry completely before rolling it up. Store it in a location that's inaccessible to mice and ants to prevent damage from chewing.
How do I care for and store my robotic cleaner?
For optimal care of your robotic cleaner, consider these points: use the appropriate time settings for your cleaning needs, avoid extension cords if possible, disconnect the cord after each use, clean the filter bag regularly, handle the cleaner carefully to prevent damage, and store it in a warm place during winter to avoid freeze damage. For specific concerns, consult the manufacturer's website or contact Yorktown Pools & Spas.
Why do I need to shock my swimming pool?
Shocking your pool is essential to maintain water quality. Over time, organic materials combine with chlorine to form 'combined chlorine,' which is less effective at disinfection and can cause irritation. Regular shock treatments break down these compounds, restoring the effectiveness of the chlorine sanitizer. This process, also known as super chlorination, involves adding a large dose of chlorine to the pool.
Why is filtration important to the quality of swimming pool water?
Filtration plays a crucial role in maintaining pool water quality by removing visible contaminants. The filter system eliminates hair, dirt, skin particles, metal or calcium deposits, and other debris. Without effective filtration, these elements would accumulate, resulting in cloudy and hazy pool water.
How do I know when it's time to clean my swimming pool filter?
While regular backwashing typically suffices for routine maintenance, over time, substances like grease, oils, and scale can accumulate on the filter media. This buildup can lead to shorter filter cycles, reduced water circulation, and persistent cloudiness in the pool water. To prevent these issues, we recommend thorough cleaning at mid-season and at the end of the swimming season.
