I am an 80-year-old U.S. Navy veteran, a long-time Lowe’s customer, and a current MyLowe’s Rewards Member. I am writing to detail a serious complaint about both Lowe’s discount policy and, more urgently, the unprofessional and potentially criminal conduct of an employee at your Matamoras, PA store (#1952) on September 15, 2025. On that date, I attempted to purchase a 5-gallon container of Cabot semi-transparent deck stain. This followed a $1,245 purchase of the same product on September 9, for which an in-store discount was applied and delivery arranged to my secondary residence. Due to an error in Lowe’s online ordering system—where the platform locked in an incorrect billing address and would not allow edits—my valid Visa card was repeatedly rejected online. This error prevented me from completing the purchase remotely and accessing the advertised $40 discount, forcing me to drive 40 minutes to the store. At the Matamoras store, the advertised discount was not applied at checkout. When I asked for the store manager, the on-duty employee in the paint department appeared and falsely claimed to be the store manager. She refused to listen to my explanation and showed no interest in resolving the matter. Instead, she became visibly agitated when I asked for the real store manager and, in a shocking act of unprofessionalism, grabbed the 5-gallon paint can from my cart and slammed it to the floor—escalating the situation to an argument rather than de-escalating it. Worse, a younger customer in line—who stated ,when asked, that he was 55yrs old, 25 years my junior—then aggressively inserted himself into the situation, confronting me and threatening physical harm. This verbal assault, directed at me as a senior citizen, is not a trivial matter under Pennsylvania law. An assault or threat of violence against a person over 60 years old is a felony in Pennsylvania, punishable by a mandatory minimum sentence of two years in prison. Despite witnessing this confrontation, the employee—who had already falsely claimed store managerial authority—made no effort to defuse the threat or call security protect me, a visibly elderly customer. Instead, she stood by with what I can only describe as a smug expression, appearing to condone the threatening behavior. Had this situation escalated into actual physical contact—which it very nearly did—both the employee and Lowe’s could have faced serious legal consequences, including civil liability and potential criminal culpability for failing call security or to act when a known danger to a customer was present but rather allowed it to escalate. After the incident, I wrote directly to Mr. Marvin Ellison, Lowe’s Chairman and CEO. Unfortunately, the response I received from his office was deeply disappointing. His assistant appeared dismissive and uninterested in the gravity of the situation or the conduct of the employee involved. This lack of accountability at the highest levels of the company only adds to my concern that Lowe’s may be failing to protect its customers—especially elderly patrons like myself—from potentially dangerous encounters inside its stores. I strongly urge Lowe’s Corporate to take the following actions: Investigate this incident fully, including reviewing security footage around 2:40 PM on September 15, 2025. Advise all Employees that an assault on a person over 60yrs old is a felony in Pennsylvania as well as other US locations. Identify and appropriately discipline the employee involved, and perhaps providing for anger management and admonishment for denying access to the actual store manage. Provide staff at this location with immediate training on conflict resolution and elder customer safety. This experience was not only unacceptable—it was dangerous. I expect Lowe’s to take it with the seriousness it demands.

Leadership is horrible in this place. No customer service or care. This is big business at its finest with employees that don’t care.
