    The first time we used the container store 20 years ago our experience was 5 star. Not so this time and I'm being gracious giving them the 2 stairs. The experience this time gets two stars are because certain employees that are on staff are extremely condescending and rude. We have spent close to $5,000 for 3 closets and 1rack system in an art studio. Upon receiving 4 of racks that were cut down, I am unable to place them in the bracket's with the other shelves until I either make the trip yet again ( apx 100 miles round trip) or “go out and buy a file at home Depot and file them down myself”!!!!!!! as i was instructed by her. The attitude of this individual and others on her team is and has been remarkably rude. It’s amazing what customer service can accomplish when done with respect. I would have made arrangements to travel had her attitude been better. Im very hesitant to return or purchase from them again and that is due to this employee. At this point, I would suggest buyer beware of employees with condescending and rude attitudes towards YOU the buying consumer!

    The online design tool is trash. It missing a ton of basic functionality (like letting you add a section to a wall, for me it just decided that I want to populate just the middle section of a wall and there's nothing I can do about it). When you add a designed room to the cart, it doesn't show you which components it includes, you just need to put your faith in it. Don't do that. The most annoying problem for me was that instead of cutting down an 85" top track down to 63", it instead sent 2 tracks - one 25" (cut down from 26") and one 38" (cut down from 50"). This makes the order more expensive and more annoying to install (limiting my ability to install directly to studs and having to perfectly align both tracks). I called to complain and just got gaslit by the designer "explaining" to me that that's just how the software is built. The online tool is half baked and you should not use it.

    This review is focused on the custom closet experience — which I do not recommend. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere. I ordered a closet system for my child in September 2024. While most of the order arrived promptly, we were informed that the drawer fronts were on backorder. From that point until March 2025, I had to call The Container Store at least 30 times to get updates. I spoke with numerous associates and managers — some said the parts were in stock, others gave shipping dates, and a few claimed the items were already on the way. Despite all that, the drawer fronts never arrived. Ultimately, it became clear that our order had simply been forgotten. Even once the items were back in stock, the company didn’t ship them until I escalated the issue through corporate. Had I not pushed, I genuinely don’t believe the order would have ever been completed. To make matters worse, the finished closet system feels cheaply made — and this was their premium product. Considering the poor customer service and fulfillment issues, I strongly urge others to look elsewhere. I spent far too much time (and money) on this process. Don't make the same mistake I did! For context: this is only the second Google review I’ve ever written. I’m doing it because I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did — and end up with a subpar product after months of frustration.
