It really gets old sometimes being treated like I am inconveniencing a store clerk when I actually need assistance. I have spent an absurd amount of money in this store over the years (since it first opened) as both a contractor & a home owner. I do a lot of things in the world of construction and home improvement, but painting is one of my least favorite & where I tend to need assistance, due to my lack of knowledge in this area. Recently, I have had two bad experiences back to back with the paints department. The first one, the guy got me half of what I needed, because the store was closing in 15 minutes, so he basically blew me off after selecting the first can of product for me. He shook the can of primer for me, put it up on the counter & then just walked away. My next interaction was on Sunday (1-04-26) when I returned to the store to get the other paint products that I needed for a kitchen remodel. The man working in the paint department was a tall bald guy with a red beard. He was working on an order, so I waited patiently for his assistance until he was done. There were no other customers waiting before me when I was there. After about 10 minutes or so, I decided to try and figure out the right products that I needed on my own. Meanwhile, this man walked past me 3 different times and refused to even acknowledge me, there was a forth time where I thought he was coming over to finally help me or tell me that he would be right with me...not only did that not happen, apparently I was standing in his way to grab a product off the shelf that he needed. He stopped & just stared at me until I moved out of his way. At that point I just left the store. As it turned out, he did me a favor...I ended up going directly to the Sherwin Williams store across the street. The sales clerk there was helpful and courteous with no waiting. After deciding on which products I should purchase...He informed me that if I waited a few more days, Sherwin Williams was having a 30% off sale on all of their paints, and a 15% off on supplies. It was a no-brainer at this point. He also told me that he could also apply an additional 10% off in-store discount - for a total of 40% off my paint products. Thank you Tall-Bald-headed Lowes guy with the red beard! I guess that I just became too complacent with shopping at Lowes all these years. I also made several trips to Harbor Freight - where I saved a ton of money, especially on a paint sprayer, wood clamps, Latex gloves, drywall bits and a roto-zip tool, among other things...sometimes it pays to drive a little further!
