This review is regarding having a front door installed by Lowes.
I was visited by a Lowe's salesperson at my home to select my new front door. I chose it from a catalog, the salesperson measured the door area, wrote down my door paint information, and the install was scheduled for a little over 3 months later.
I cannot recommend Lowe's for having an exterior door installed. The reasons are: (1) some materials were incorrectly ordered and do not match my home. The installer did not offer to go to Lowe's to exchange the incorrect materials, and (2) When the installer left, the home owner was expected to complete the install by caulking and painting. Lowes should ensure ALL the steps will be completed so the door is completely installed.
The first problem occurred when the installer informed me the salesperson had ordered pine wood trim and the rest of my house has oak trim. He did not think it would look right and I agreed. He did not offer exchanging the trim as an option. I was supposed to stain and finish the trim so even if the salesperson had ordered oak, the job would require me to stain and finish the trim. I decided to use the old trim, even though there is now a small gap at the bottom of the trim because the new door is slightly taller than the old one.
The next problem occurred when the installer was about to leave. He told me he had caulked around the door and I should caulk a second time over what he caulked, then paint the area. There is also a white trim piece around the door I am supposed to paint. I gave the paint color to the salesperson so the painting would already be done. The door itself is painted, but the white trim piece is not. I didn't know caulk and paint was left out of the install. I ordered the door already painted. I believed my $9000+ for the door and install was going to cover ALL the installation, meaning my new front door was completely done and ready to go. It did not.
I am very disappointed my front door project is not complete. If you don't mind having extra things to do after the "install" is done, maybe this won't bother you.

Shout out to Chloe W. I had to return something because it turns out I didn’t really need it so I went to the return department and Chloe was very nice and really friendly! This place also has a lot of other good employees as well. I definitely recommend coming here to Lowe’s you won’t regret it!
