- SSSean SullivanSep 23, 20251.0In December 2024, we went through Lowes in Heath OH for carpet for our home. Lowes sent out Ultimate Home Services to measure and schedule the install. The initial guy Ultimate sent asked specifically where we wanted the seam. We chose parallel to our front window as the hallway was high traffic. Ultimate sent out a subcontractor to do the install. I was working so I could not babysit the subcontractor. When he left I noticed there was a seam right in the middle of the hallway, exactly where I did not want it. The seam started to fray almost immediately as the carpet was definitely not installed by a pro. I contacted the Heath Lowes who stated they would send out an Ultimate service tech. The tech came out and looked at the carpet and proceeded to tell me that it was my dogs fault and Lowes never should have sold me a non-pet friendly carpet. When I purchased the carpet, the Lowes employee knew we had pets as we chose the pet friendly padding underneath. Apparently, the people who work in the carpet area are supposed to provide guidance on what carpet is good for your home, this tech obviously was not up to the task. He mentioned nothing about pet friendly carpet but was glad to upsell us on the pet-proof padding. The service tech said not to worry, that he would go to bat for us with Lowes and point out all the issues. My grandchildren to this day keep being poked in the foot by the tack strips because they were not installed correctly. Lowes called a couple of days later and told me that the service tech reported nothing was wrong with the install. Meanwhile, I have wasted over $2K on carpet because neither Lowes nor Ultimate would do the right thing. Lowes corporate declined to get involved and referred me back to the Heath store. DO NOT PURCHASE CARPET FROM LOWES! And absolutely DO NOT have Ultimate Home Services install. Having an Ultimate tech come and diagnose the problem is like letting the inmates run the asylum. Avoid both Lowe's and Ultimate Home Services at all costs, it is a waste of your time and hard earned money. I will never purchase anything from Lowes ever again.
