I had had a very negative experience with the first company I hired, a local business, and decided I would feel safer going with a national chain. While they didn't really do anything WRONG, the cleaning they did was frequently mediocre. It was common to find chunks of food still on the floor under the cabinets, very obviously dusty areas, in fact at one point we bought a new piece of furniture and they didn't dust it until told to do so. A big fighting point was that there is a particular area of my bathroom countertop that gets gross from my contact lens solution. Frequently the day they cleaned, I would run my hand over the counter and find dried up, crusty contact lens solution still all over the counter. Using any type of cleaner or liquid on this area would take it off, it wasn't like you had to scrub, so that told me they were just cleaning around things on my bathroom counter. Pretty sad considering when I clean my own house I do a better job than that. I said something to them about it more than once, and they would fix it the next time they cleaned then go back to the old way. Not acceptable. They also did really puzzlingly stupid things, like for instance my bed has two sizes of pillow on it, king and regular. I would leave out both sizes of pillow case for them. Consistently every. single. time. they cleaned they would cram the king size pillow into the regular size pillow case and vice versa. It wasn't a big deal to have to fix it, but it was just blatantly stupid to watch them doing it over and over, you know? I finally fired the company after I found mold growing in my toilet, and I was having them clean every two weeks. When I called to cancel my service they didn't even ask why or try to retain me as a customer in any way. Good riddance.
