I ordered a $3,000 door from Lowe’s and was already hesitant because of their use of third-party installers. Unfortunately, that concern proved valid.
The installer assigned to my project, Chrome Installations, canceled the morning of the scheduled install after I had already taken off work and coordinated a visit from Guardian Alarm to be present. I had spoken with Sarah, the scheduler from Chrome, three times on Friday to confirm the appointment. Lowe’s also called to confirm. Chrome even called me back to “make sure everyone was on the same page.” I keep detailed notes with names and times, so there was no confusion on my end.
Yet the morning of the install, they canceled and blamed Lowe’s, saying the order was “marked improperly.” Convenient to blame someone else after confirming multiple times.
I was also told I would be the first appointment of the day, but Chrome later said they were doing a French door and window install for someone else that would take the entire day. This is unacceptable last-minute communication and shows a complete lack of regard for customers’ time.
Now I’m being told I have to reschedule again, meaning another day off work after I already rearranged my schedule for today.
If you are considering ordering a door through Lowe’s, be very cautious. The third-party installers they use do not communicate effectively and do not appear to be held accountable. This has been an incredibly frustrating experience, and I would not order through Lowe’s again because of it!

It appears that I’ve been charged multiple times for an order. How can I resolve this?
These charges are likely authorization holds that are placed throughout the life cycle of your order to ensure the funds are reserved for your purchase. When you place an order, your payment method is authorized for the full amount of the purchase. As items from your order ship, your payment is charged and the authorization is no longer held by Lowe’s. Orders shipped in multiple shipments will be charged separately at time of shipment; therefore, you may see multiple charges, but they'll never exceed the full amount of your order. For orders with longer lead times, your method of payment will be reauthorized to ensure funds remain available until your item is shipped.
