I never do this, but I feel an obligation to. The person at the returns desk was quite rude.
We purchased a ($24!!!) sump pump check valve. Didn't realize until after we installed it that a screw was missing on the housing which led to an improper seal which lead to water spraying across our basement as soon as we plugged in the pump, but we needed it up and running ASAP, so we tied a rag around it to prevent spraying and hoped for the best.
The next day (today), I returned with the receipt and a new valve and tried to ask the person at the returns desk if I could buy the new valve and bring back the defective one for a refund once I swapped them out. Before I could even finish my first sentence, she cut me off and just kept saying "no, no, no, nope, can't, no" every time I tried to speak and explain the situation, which at this point she had no knowledge of given that I hadn't been given a chance to speak. During this, she even gestured towards the door as if telling me to leave. I had to ask her to stop and to let me finish. I quickly explained and she told me that I couldn't return it if it had already been installed, but begrudgingly chose to call a manager to ask (her idea, I did not request it, but I was considering doing so). The manager said that it was no problem. Points for the manager, not so much for the employee, whose name I don't remember. Very frustrating. Will update on whether or not the return is successful, I didn't have time to return the defective valve before they closed.

I will never buy anything from Lowes. They sell you junk and then refuse to let you return it, when it doesn't work. Bought an item. Had it 3 days, went to use it, didn't work. Brought it back same week, and said it isn't returnable after 2 days. I will never buy anything from Lowes again, and we'll make sure all the Contractors i know, go elsewhere too.

Had an emergency needed an extension cord was in a rush they had the aisle 7 closed down for 20 minutes the guy could barely walk the employee and left me waiting for 30 minutes I asked an associate if she could please just go grab me an extension cord so I could be on my way cuz I have frozen pipes she told me no so I told her I will go somewhere else and she said that's fine go somewhere else real nice service that's why I should have continued to use home Depot I wouldn't even rate one star to make a customer wait when the employee wasn't even close to working by the extension cords then they sent me to another aisle out in the greenhouse a wild goose chase I came back and the guy is still working in the aisle what a joke
