    After dinner, our Maytag washer made a horrible grinding noise and barely finished the cycle. Transmission definitely shot. Over three decades of nearly daily use and the only service was a belt replacement on the washer years ago. Well made products. We shopped Lowe's online. Found a Maytag high capacity, top loading washer and a high capacity, drop down door dryer at $1,350 for the pair. Our strong preference was top loading after using front loading styles while renting. The price was close to what we paid 31 years ago (about $500 each back then). Two very nice guys, Raymond and Kenny, delivered, installed and tested the new units the next day. Both Puerto Rican immigrants. Thanks legal immigration. They took away the old units. Dryer still worked fine and will go to a family that can use it. Amazing efficiency and engineering progress over three decades. Direct electric drive on the washer. Fewer parts. Everything solid state. Ten year parts warranty on both. New units are quiet and efficient. Simple controls. One page guide. Sensors that automatically use the right amount of water and drying time. Clothes come out unwrinkled. App that connects to smart phones if desired to notify when cycles are complete. From vehicles to TV's, phones, home heating and cooling systems and appliances of all types, progress in quality, efficiency and distribution has been simply incredible. Thanks Lowe's. Thanks engineers, entrepreneurs, investors, competition and free markets!

    Very disappointing experience. We were told the refrigerator would fit through a 29" door, but after several failed delivery attempts, the crew still refused to bring it in even though it clearly fit (28 3/4 without doors). Our property manager asked to speak with the supervisor, but the lead delivery guy refused and became aggressive, shoutingand calling names before leaving. It looked like they just didnt want to carry it up one flight of stairs. Totally unprofessional hoping management reviews this and resolves the issue properly.
