I had one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had at Hobby Lobby. I spent over an hour shopping and choosing 2 items from the very front of the store. There were no signs, no notes, nothing indicating these items were on hold, and there were over 10 of them. Employees saw me pick them up and put them in my cart, and no one said a thing. After waiting in line and finally reaching the cashier, the Customer Service Manager, Christine, came over and abruptly asked where I got the items. I explained exactly where, and she immediately grabbed them out of my cart and told me they were on hold for another customer. When I told her there were no signs, she insisted there were. There absolutely were not. As I walked out, I saw the exact same items placed right back at the front with no signage at all, confirming everything I had said. What made the situation even more telling was that the employees who witnessed it, along with the store manager, apologized for the incident. Meanwhile, Christine was suddenly nowhere to be found. The entire encounter was unprofessional, unnecessary, and the opposite of what customer service should be. I will be contacting corporate, because someone in a management position should not be treating customers this way, and Hobby Lobby should seriously reconsider who they place in charge.

Some of the people who are always working there — managers or supervisors, probably — really make you feel like you’re the biggest inconvenience. The associates who ring at the register are mostly pleasant and helpful but some of them make you feel like you should apologize for needing any sort of help, rolling their eyes and huffing and puffing when you ask for anything, straight to your face. As someone who’s in retail myself, I understand people have their days but I’ve been there multiple times, always the same treatment. I really only shop there for convenience, but would rather have any other decor and crafts store near and I’d never set foot at the Hobby Lobby in Massapequa again.
