The buying process was EXTREMELY simple. I walked in, and a kind sir by the name of Grant greeted me. I quickly explained my goal. He guided me in the right direction, and within seconds, I found exactly what I had been looking for: a big, comfy couch for a small space!
I walked around, browsed, then left Mr. Grant hanging, and walked out the store...I was hungry.
I went home, ate some food, did some thinking, and decided to go back at 6:30 on a Saturday. Grant was literally walking within steps of his car to leave for the day as I was walking back in. He was very kind about me holding him up a few extra minutes because I knew it was the perfect couch.
Then Karen, she's a sweetheart, guided me through my delivery options, helped with a very painless payment, as they gave me a discount, and provided all the information I needed to keep my product in good condition!
They were also accommodating to my delivery
We visited the RF on a rainy Saturday on the hunt for a new couch. When we walked in, we sat down on the first couch we saw, not because we were interested, but just because we wanted to get our bearings straight. That's when a sales rep by the name of Alan walked over to us, Eager to make a sale. He starts by explaining to us and I kid you not “The interesting thing about buying a couch…is that you really need to understand what you're buying… Really all a couch is, is plastic”, he said. “ From the materials to the fabric. It's all just plastic, So are you in the market to spend a thousand dollars for plastic, two thousand dollars for plastic or an unknown number on plastic?”
I don't know about you all, but when someone's pitch is, “you're about to buy thousand dollars worth of plastic." When our goal was to buy a couch that we could see ourselves enjoying for years to come. We were immediately turned off, but we persisted with Alan anyways (as we seemingly didn't have any other choices).
From there, Alan did everything he could to talk himself out of a sale. While we were very clear with our requirements, A small to medium-sized couch that was L-shaped that could fit in an abnormally laid out living room that was on the softer side with ideally soft fabric (not leather)...He ignored Pretty much everything we asked for. We even mentioned a couch we saw online and he refused to show it to us because "its not a best seller". He took us around the entire store, telling us about couches that didn't fit our style, We didn't find comfortable couches that didn't match our requirements including reclining leather u shaped couches!
At one point, he let us know that we were the most difficult customers he had that day with the only more difficult customer being an old Asian woman. It should be noted. Allen is Asian, so he felt as though making this statement somehow Was okay. It was not.
The breaking point for my husband, and I was when we finally found a couch we did like, we wanted to customize the fabric, meaning we were willing to spend more money to get exactly what we wanted. When we explained to Alan our desire to do this, not only did he tell us “you don't want to do that”, but he then explained to us that it would take longer to order, take longer to ship, and ultimately, would just cause us frustration because we wouldn't be able to have the couch as quickly as we expected. We asked how long the delay would be and he said “i dont know”. We were well aware a customized couch would be more time to make but to Allen that was not okay.
My husband and I stared at each other in disbelief. We were fully ready to commit to buying this couch, and Allen just decided to talk himself out of a sale.
We dealt with him, taking us on winding and weaving tours throughout the store, showing us couch after couch that we didn't like, and we finally landed on the perfect one. He was the reason why we walked out without a sale.
The next day, we drove out to horseheads to Ashley Furniture, where we met a very relaxed, chilled Salesperson who only bothered us twice, the first to say hello and the second to show us a couch we ended up loving and buying.
