Following a burglary with vandalism of a large unit with many stollen belongings, we are left wanting more reassurance about how security and situations like this are handled. Experiences like this are incredibly violating - we have a new baby in the family and it was incredibly upsetting to see all our boxes cut open and with baby items and clothes all over the floor and damaged. While others may have different experiences, ours have raised enough concern that we would strongly recommend exploring other storage companies.

Management showed minimal concern, and corporate response was completely unhelpful. For a place that markets itself as secure, this was extremely disappointing. Until they make serious security improvements, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Our units lock was cut, our stuff ransacked and approximately $6k worth of stuff was stolen less than two weeks after moving in. Extra Space will direct you to file an insurance claim and absolve themselves of all responsibility. Recommend you get your own insurance that covers full replacement cost, their provided insurance only covers assessed value which means they’ll only give you the depreciated value of your belongings. Included pictures of our unit before and after the break in.
