I had an excellent experience at Extra Space Storage in Buffalo, NY and it was all thanks to Angela!
From the moment I walked in, she was incredibly welcoming, professional, and genuinely helpful. She took the time to answer all of my questions, explained everything clearly, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. It’s rare to come across someone who truly goes the extra mile, but Angela absolutely does.
She made what could have been a complicated or overwhelming situation feel easy and organized. Her customer service was outstanding, and you can tell she truly cares about the people she helps.
Highly recommend this location and if you get the chance to work with Angela, you’re in great hands!
I rented a unit on the phone over a weekend that subsequently was too small for my needs. While on the phone with a sales rep, I asked If I can switch if it's too small once I get a look at it the following Monday, to which the person on the phone said yes. The following Monday when I looked at it, it was too small for what I needed, I called and asked to be switched to a larger one, to which they agreed and promised to return the money I paid for the smaller unit or to apply it to the price of the bigger unit. That of course did not happen and they charged me for both units. For the new unit, I was told that when my initial rental time is coming to an end, if I renew in advance, which I did, than there will be no increase in price. That of course did not happen either and I was charged the higher price. I went to see their store manager Kazi Iqbal four times. Each time we spoke I had to explain the entire story again and again as if it was the first time we were speaking. Kazi, on the fourth visit, said the money will be returned but of course it was not (the money for a unit from which I switched and the higher price they charged for the new unit). It was only after the fifth time that I went to speak with Kazi and brought with me preformed papers for a small claims court that they returned my money ($570 in total up to this point). My rent was expiring but I needed two more months, I tried to renew in advance again, however, all of a sudden the price was again the more expensive one ($200 per month). I didn't bother arguing and paid the new higher price. Up to that point I always payed “through the month”, therefore, I thought that this last renewal for two more months would, likewise, be through the two full months. In the middle of the second month, I get a phone call from Ron, an employee, telling me that my rent expires now and I must either move out or pay. I argued that I'm payed through the month. Ron's response was to make what appeared to be monkey noises, but he did say that I had 5 days to move out without being charged (I do not mean to insult, Ron really started to mock me with weird sounds that sounded like a monkey). I moved out within 3 days, but of course I got charged $200 dollars again. The charge was to my credit card although I never signed up for an automatic payment. I called Ron and told him to give my money back or I'll initiate a dispute with the credit card company. Ron said that If I do that then he will put me into collections. At this point I was ready to take them to the small claims, however, they did return $150 but not the entire $200 (I am debating whether or not to fight and how to fight for the remaining $50). Two weeks later, once again I get an email and a call stating that the automatic renewal did not go through. They attempted to charge my card $200 again even though I was out of the unit for nearly a month. I called back and explained to them (it was not Ron on the phone this time, rather, someone nicer that didn't make monkey sounds) the situation, told them that I already reported them to the credit card company and to stop trying to steal my money. The person on the phone replied “understood”. If I get another credit card charge attempt next month, I'll update this post. Final tally up to this point is $770 they attempted to steal from me, and I was successful in retrieving $720 of it. This occurred at the 2681 Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst, NY 14228 location, however, their main office is located at 521 Young st, Tonawanda, NY 14150. My advise to anyone that did business with them in the past or will do business with them in the future is to make sure you are vigilant with your credit card or bank account that you used to pay for the storage unit/s. My hunch is that this is how they scam people. They are counting that you do not check your statements and they overcharge a little here a little there. Once you discover something and confront them, they may return some portion or sandbag you until you quit asking.
