As storage facilities go, this place is top notch.
For reference, I have been in and out of my unit at least once a week for several months and have only a minor complaint or two. I rent a third-floor unit in the climate-controlled facility.
Location
It’s located in one of the cloverleafs of the Route 18/Route 33 intersection, which makes it convenient. The only downside of the location is that getting back on Route 18 north is a little clunky. Once you’ve figured it out and done it a couple of times, though, it’s a breeze. On the other hand, if you’re coming from 18 south or 33, it’s super convenient.
Cleanliness, security, organization
This place is amazingly clean, everywhere, from the exterior to the interior parking bays to the areas around the individual storage units.
It’s also secure. Everyone gets a unique code to open the main access gate and both the interior and exterior doors. Obviously, this means that there’s a record of who’s there and when.
Several large overhead, automatic doors allow for interior loading/unloading, keeping you out of the weather, and there are enough of them to minimize wait times. I have never had to wait for a bay. The doors are large enough to accommodate box trucks, so anything smaller fits easily. Security cameras are mounted in several places in the loading area, so staff can always see what’s going on.
Convenience
Rolling carts are available inside the loading area, minimizing any lifting or carrying. And a large elevator is just inside the interior doors, which are automatic and open wide. My only complaint with the elevator is that it takes a full 20 seconds to close the door and start moving after you’ve selected the floor, and there’s no way to speed it up. I’ve tried. No biggie, though.
Layout
With the elevator it makes no difference what floor your unit is on. The layout is reminiscent of the hallways in “Severance,” but it is well-organized—the units are numbered, of course—and mine was easy to find. I only got lost once. Although there is excellent lighting throughout, there are also a few windows around, allowing natural light in and adding a warmth to an otherwise austere environment. In addition to sunlight, there is also classic rock playing at a low volume level, also improving the experience.
Staff
The staff have been excellent from the start. They made it easy to rent a unit and easy to transfer units, which I did recently. They are onsite weekdays (at least) and answer the phone, and when they say they’ll call you back, they actually do. They have been friendly, effective, and reliable throughout my time renting.
Cost
You get what you pay for, right? Considering everything I’m getting, I think the cost is fair, but it’s certainly not cheap. It’s an ideal setup. They really have thought through how to make storage as convenient and efficient as possible, and you pay for it.
On a related note I recently received a notice stating that my rent would increase by 100%. I called the number on the notice, and we negotiated a more acceptable increase. So they are willing to work with you, which I think is a plus.
