- TLTony LehlNov 15, 20252.0I had contacted Andy's Appliance Repair as my refrigerator water line had been freezing to my ice maker. While the technician was able to quickly diagnose the issue, I was quoted nearly 500 dollars to replace the water inlet valve. After researching online, I was able to locate the needed part for $45. I cancelled the appointment, ordered the part, and was able to install it myself in a half an hour. Even at 50% markup for the part, that would be ~$70 dollars. Where does the other 430 come from? To simply diagnose the issue cost $140. Personally I would say that they are taking advantage of the unknown. 2 stars because the technician was courteous and explained things in a way that I could understand. He also located an error that I made after installing my new ice maker, there was a plastic piece to the fill tray that needed to be trimmed to allow the pathway for water to have a more downward path.
