My husband and I just moved across the country and bought our first home. We went to the Lowes across the street from where we live and instantly became regulars. We bought paint, for the entire house, we bought rugs, tools, light fixtures, wood, bulbs, shelves, anything and everything we needed we got from Lowe’s. The employees there recognized us and even knew about our new home projects. They were kind, and so helpful. The day after Christmas comes and we need a bin for our Christmas tree, naturally my husband went to Lowe’s.
While there, he saw two pallets of bins with a big sign saying they were on sale, got to the front and they rang up another price. The cashier called her manager for an override and the manager says “you called me up here for an override?.. you know how backed up we are?!”
My husband felt instant regret asking for help. The cashier was talked to like that in front of everyone? That’s not ok…
Then the manager takes my husband to where the bin was found, when showing a separate sign stating the correct cost he says in a belittling tone “can you read?” … really??
How dare you be so disrespectful. We don’t care about the price, we care about being disrespected… that experience was enough.. it was enough to send us elsewhere.
We don’t want anything free, we don’t want gift cards or store credit.. my only intent is to convey how very disappointed I am in that manager.. kindness is free and having worked my entire life in customer service, I can tell you with pure honesty that I’d never talk down to another person like that.. especially not a loyal customer..

We purchased a charbroil Bistro Patio infrared grill approximately a year and a half ago. We enjoyed the grill for about six months and suddenly the infrared burner stopped working so we took the grill back to the store on Lumber Lane with the receipt and they exchanged the grill no questions asked. Then about 6 months later we started to use the grill and when it was powered on, it shot flames out of the burner and had a small fire. Thankfully I was able to extinguish the fire before any damage to our home. As we once again loaded the grill up and took it back to the same store. After searching high and low we could not locate a receipt but figured since they had replaced it last time and we had to fill out our information it should be on file. When we took the grill into customer service they advised us there was nothing they could do and refused any further help. They were no help at all so we ended up leaving the grill at the counter after we were told we could not leave it at the store. Hoping that three times is a charm we happened to be in Mocksville and went by Lowes and saw the identical grill so we purchased another one and purchased an extended warranty. This time the grill lasted about 2 months. We loaded the grill in the car and took it to the store on Lumber Lane (which is about 2 1/2 miles from our house) to get a refund or another grill. We were instructed by customer service that even though we had a receipt, they could not do a return at that store since it was purchased in Mocksville. Frustrated, we loaded the grill back in the car once again, and took it to the store in Mocksville where it was purchased. After arriving at the store, the customer service person there stated that they could not do anything to help and that we would have to contact Charbroil directly and they could resolve it. So after making the trip back home with the grill and contacting Charbroil directly the person representing Charbroil stated they could walk me through troubleshooting what part was bad and they could ship a new part for ME to install. The person I spoke with was one of the rudest people I’ve ever encountered. I explained that we had two previous grills and all three were dangerous and we would just like a refund and we had the receipt. We were informed that was not an option and the only option was to have a part shipped for us to replace. So we now have a grill that doesn’t work and got no help from Lowes or Charbroil. Why would you sell a product that you can’t stand behind and why offer an extended warranty if I would have to do any repairs myself. This is totally unacceptable of Lowes and Charbroil. Think twice before you purchase a Charbroil grill from Lowes! ***UPDATE as of 12/29/25– As instructed by the reply from Lowes (See below for reply from Lowes) I called the number and spoke with a representative who asked for my name and phone number which I did provide. She had no records of my complaint or this review. She asked me to explain what the complaint was so I went through the whole thing which is described above. After my explanation she advised me that Lowe’s could not do anything and I would need to deal with Charbroil directly to resolve the matter. So nothing was resolved by calling the number provided in the reply from Lowes. To add to this review, I happened to notice on my visit to the store on Lumber Lane that the grill I have referenced is now on clearance and the price has dropped from $129 to $69. Maybe this is because the grill is a fire hazard and should have been recalled? So I stand behind my complaint listed above.
