Someone came out to measure we were told to go to the store and pick the shades. We were not guided or given any other kind of assistance in regard to what kind of shade would work best for our type of window. Our windows are flush with the walls, not recessed. When the shades were installed, it was anything but black out . My suggestion to you is, if you want window treatments for your home, get a professional company that will come out and assist you and give you guidance in regards to what product will best meet your needs. Lowe's does not do that
