  Bought used car with one key that only works in ignition but won’t unlock doors, dealer wanted $90 and regular cut key in the store didn’t work either. Thought I try minute key, cost $30 and took 9 days to arrive but luckily worked great in all doors. So highly recommend this option if you have older car that doesn’t need programming and you’re not in a hurry.

  I made a copy of a key using Minute Key at Home Depot in Durham. The key did not open the lock I made it for. I returned the key, and headed to Lowes - where I made another copy of the key in the Minute Key kiosk there. That key worked fine. Since all you ido is insert the key and wait, it certainly feels like the machine in Home Depot does not work well. So - 1 star for the kiosk in HD, and 5 stars for the kiosk in Lowes.

  I went to Lowes to have some keys made. There’s no one around the key area, and I hate having to track down employees to help me. I had noticed a Minute Key machine as I was walking through Lowes, so I decided to check it out. There were no prices showing, which made me a little hesitant, but I inserted my key anyway. I first selected the key type (mine was a house key), and prices showed up. The plain brass key was $4, but if you buy two you got one free. They had fancier keys like a UNC key for $6. I bought an assortment of keys, and the entire process was quick and easy. I also opted for a free “digital copy,” which was sent to my email. They give a guarantee that the key copies will work flawlessly, and every one I got worked as well as the original. I would absolutely use this machine the next time I need a key copied.

  A wonderful piece of technology, I would highly recommend. I had three duplicate keys made up at their kiosk in Lowes at Chapel Hill, NC, and I couldn't be happier with the results. All three fit perfectly into my office door. I do have one minor suggestion for an improvement though. When I was 15 years old, I worked part time in a hardware store, and one of my responsibilities was to fabricate duplicate keys for customers, so I do have some background in this subject. I did notice that when I received my three keys from Minute Key, they each had small burs still attached to them. They easily flaked off with the aid of a flat screwdriver that I procured from a nearby shelf. Really not a big deal at all, but my suggestion for future kiosks would be to consider installing a small slot that the finished keys could be inserted into. The internal side would house a deburring brush, something I remember doing to all the finished keys back in the day. A couple in and outs and your finished product would be flawless. Just a thought, it's still a wonderful device, and I loved not having to track down a clueless store employee (like I was so many years ago) to make them for me. Thanks!
