If you are placing an order for pickup, I recommend the Home Depot off Interstate 55. Don't come to Lowe's—they take way too long to get your order ready, unless you place it 8 hours in advance or the day before. If you want speed, go to Home Depot; they are much faster.

I’ve been a long-tenured customer of Lowe’s and have always appreciated the level of service I’ve received, which is why my experience today was so disappointing. After getting off work, I stopped by to speak with someone in Appliances about measurements and also to have a couple of replacement keys made. It may have been a busy time of day, but it was very difficult to find someone to assist with the key duplication. Thankfully, a kind lady working in the lumber/wood area (a tall African American woman) noticed and called for help. A young man who was actually clocking out took the time to assist me, which truly meant a lot. My main concern, however, was the lack of support in the Appliance department. I waited in that area for about 30 minutes before going to search for help myself. I found a gentleman in the Paint section — I believe he spoke Spanish — and he was extremely kind and did everything he could to assist me. After trying for nearly another hour, he informed me that two employees who were supposed to be working in Appliances were gone. One was scheduled to leave around 6 PM and the other at 9 PM. What added to my frustration was seeing other employees gathered in small groups from a distance. They may have been busy, but from a customer’s perspective, it was difficult to understand why no one stepped in to help. In the past, I’ve actually felt overwhelmed (in a good way) by the amount of customer service offered here, which is something I’ve always admired about Lowe’s. When I went to check out with my keys, I chose to go to a register instead of self-checkout because I prefer interacting with a person. I understand I could have used self-checkout, but I simply wanted a brief human interaction. Instead, I was abruptly told to use self-checkout. At that point, I was already frustrated, especially knowing I would need to return later for Appliance assistance. I walked to the other side of the store to check out, where a kind lady asked about my experience. I told her it was okay, though I was clearly disappointed. When I returned later, I saw Jeremy, who was scheduled in Appliances. I went back to the department and found another employee, John Mark, who does not even work in Appliances. He made every effort to help me. He tried contacting Jeremy on the radio but realized Jeremy had left his radio behind. When he couldn’t move forward, he called Jeremy over the store speaker. Jeremy came back briefly, pressed one button, said the item could be ordered online, and walked away — leaving John Mark to continue assisting me. Shortly after, Jeremy went to speak with the same employees who had earlier been too busy to help at checkout. I want to sincerely thank: • The lady in Lumber who stepped in to get help. • The young man who stayed past clock-out to assist me. • The gentleman in Paint who worked hard to try to resolve the situation. • The kind cashier who asked about my experience. • John Mark, who helped me even though it wasn’t his department. Unfortunately, the experience with Jeremy and the earlier checkout interaction did not reflect the standard of service I’ve come to expect from Lowe’s. I truly hope those individuals grow in their roles and understand the impact their attitude and effort have on customers and the company’s reputation. I chose Lowe’s because I value strong customer service. After this experience, I will likely look elsewhere for future appliance purchases. It’s disappointing to feel that the hardworking employees are becoming fewer and that the level of customer care is declining. I share this not out of anger, but out of concern — because I know Lowe’s can do better.
