For years Lowe’s has been a very valuable store to us. We have experienced customer service that goes way above and beyond.
This week we went to the store to pick up an order and left in disbelief. What was the service counter has been changed to returns. With no clue and signage that directed us, we went to the pro desk (yes I am a pro account) and waited for ever with several employees aware that we were waiting and were given no help, so we dialed the posted phone number for help and had no answer. Back to waiting and a woman appeared from a desk cubical area to talk with friends and ignored us. My wife asked her for help and was told that ‘no one was working’. The friend she was talking to asked us what we needed and directed to the pick up area. Only one visible sign on a back wall could be seen.
At pick up a marginally competent employee delivered one of our two items as fulfillment.
Then we went home and found the glass shades did not fit the light fixtures. One of the glass shades was defective.
When I called the store, I had an apathetic woman tell me that I had to uninstall the entire fixture and return it to be replaced with a new fixture. She wouldn’t have any thing to do with my proposal to use a more reasonable approach..
Ironically, I have had two experiences at competing stores in the last month that made me feel that they are intent on delivering a far better experience.
One of those stores received the replacement order for a far better fixture for $91. The Lowe’s inferior fixture was charged at $130!

It appears that I’ve been charged multiple times for an order. How can I resolve this?
These charges are likely authorization holds that are placed throughout the life cycle of your order to ensure the funds are reserved for your purchase. When you place an order, your payment method is authorized for the full amount of the purchase. As items from your order ship, your payment is charged and the authorization is no longer held by Lowe’s. Orders shipped in multiple shipments will be charged separately at time of shipment; therefore, you may see multiple charges, but they'll never exceed the full amount of your order. For orders with longer lead times, your method of payment will be reauthorized to ensure funds remain available until your item is shipped.
