Then I get a charge for the unit almost DOUBLE what we were paying since July. I called management to report the break in and all they had to say was “thanks for letting us know” and there wasn’t anything they could do about it. I’m only finding out now from reading other reviews that others have experienced break ins here in the last month or so and haven’t received ANY notice from management that this is happening! This place may look nice and new, but there is literally no security and no guarantee that your things will be safe here.

However, like many other storage unit companies, they rely on a sketchy model that gives you an initial price and they they fairly quickly and consistently raise that price. That's annoying enough. Then, last month, our unit on Wornall was one of several that was broken into - as I understand it, getting through the facility's security wasn't really hard and the perpetrator was able to then access several units by cutting locks. We were immediately contacted and given the chance to report stolen items to the police. BUT THEN, the same month, Extra Space Storage more than doubled our monthly rate and our cost went from $38 a month to $83 a month. Evidently corporate sets the rates and the local management doesn't have a say. So unfortunately, I'd say proceed with caution and do not store valuable items if you choose this location.
