  We had a serious drainage problem in our backyard — every time it rained, it looked like a river was running through our yard. I spoke with several well-reputed landscaping companies in Columbia and Jacob Porter with Rost was the only one willing to take on the challenge. They handled the project beautifully, and now our yard drains perfectly — no more river! Jacob and his team were professional, knowledgeable, and meticulous in their work. We were so impressed that we asked them to help with our front yard as well. They selected a wonderful variety of low-maintenance plants that look stunning and complement our home perfectly. Since the work was completed, we’ve had multiple neighbors stop by to ask who did our landscaping — and I’m always happy to recommend Rost. We couldn’t be happier with the results!

  We worked with Jacob Porter at Rost to update the front of our home/Preschool. Large tree roots had damaged our existing walkway and our front yard was washing away. Jacob and his crew were great to work with from design through completion. The yard looks amazing and we couldn’t be happier!

  Save your money & go someplace else. My folks went to Rost, ordered 2 trees (2.5 " diameter trunk, big trees & yet small enough that one of their workers easily lifted a tree by himself ) & paid quite a bit to have them professionally planted by Rost. That's where Rost's professionalism stopped. To start, one of the trees has a very crooked trunk. The trees are planted above the soil line. BURLAP sacs (which have been shown to hurt root growth can take a decade or more to decay) was left around the root bulbs. PLASTIC twine was tightly wound around the tree trunks and METAL bulb carriers were left in the ground , all covered with a thin layer of soil which quickly eroded away upon the first rainfall. My folks called to express concern about one of trees leaning, the burlap, plastic & metal. Rost came out to correct the leaning but left the burlap, plastic & metal in the ground. My parents were told to leave the burlap and plastic alone bc they were meant to be left & for my parents to use bolt cutters to cut the metal handles; if the metal handles bothered them that much. I called several arborists all agreed the burlap, plastic & metal should not have been left. My folks thought they were buying good quality trees & planting service; instead, they got poor tree quality, with burlap, plastic & metal spikes buried in their yard too. Do yourself a favor and use a different company.
