- CJChristina JonesJan 4, 20192.0Dte rep came to our door. We are new home owners. He wanted to sign us up for a free protection plan for our appliances. I let him give me his speech, I told him I wasn't the one in the account , but that my fiance is. I also told him I didnt want to be signed up for anything without asking him. Tim assured me I wouldnt be. He asked my fiances name and I made the mistake of telling him. He then asked me to scribble a signature on the consent line and I refused.He then calls his supervisor, gives her all our information then hands me the phone... she asked how he was doing I said fine, then I was told I was being signed up...I quickly refused. The rep told me that it was just informational... but then tried to lock me into a $21 a month(if we didnt cancel after the first month) insurance for my appliances AND I AM NOT EVEN THE ACCOUNT HOLDER. He was very nice and was probably just trying to do his job, but lying pushed me over the edge. The $21 a month fee was never brought up until I was almost trapped into a contract. Not cool.
