- GGGJan 20, 20261.0Deceptive pricing. (1/2026 Update) After working with a local agent, I moved my entire unit a few dozen steps down the hallway for the (still current) price of $74. Like clockwork, after three months, I receive the "You're not a loyal customer" postcards telling me my new rate will be $153. Again, doubling the rate with 32 days notice. There's nothing new or improved, and I'm not getting double the value. I just represent a wasted opportunity if I'm not squeezed to increase shareholder value. Line go ever up. Well, not to worry. There's a unit at a competing location that promises in writing not to increase the rate more than 20%, and only once per year. Not every three months, not 100%, and not based on nothing. Laater Extra Space. What a joke of an enshittified company. (10/2025) My rate increased more than double to $153. The current price for my same size unit lists at $74. I called and was told that they advertise lower rates for new customers, but "routinely review rates" and would increase that "introductory" rate too. Classic deceptive pricing. There is no ethical reason to charge more than double to loyal customers and give short term and new customers the "attractive" rate. This is pricing fraud. That said, the staff at the location I rent from is exemplary. It's not their fault their corporate overlords suck.
