Lowe's Companies, Inc. is the second-largest home improvement retailer in the United States, providing a vast range of products and services to both do-it-yourself (DIY) customers and professional contractors. Headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, it operates a network of large, warehouse-style stores and a robust online platform, Lowes.com. Company Overview and History Founded in 1921 by Lucius Smith Lowe as a small general merchandise store named North Wilkesboro Hardware, the business shifted its focus exclusively to hardware and building supplies in 1946 to capitalize on the post-World War II construction boom. The company became publicly traded in 1961 and was renamed Lowe's Companies, Inc.. Key milestones include: 1982: Achieved its first billion-dollar sales year. Late 1980s-1990s: Transitioned to a "big box," warehouse-style store format, which allowed for a wider array of consumer goods and a large garden center, successfully appealing to the growing DIY market. 1995: Launched its e-commerce website, Lowes.com. 1999: Acquired Eagle Hardware & Garden, Inc. to accelerate expansion into the western United States. 2021: Celebrated its centennial anniversary. Lowe’s Corporate Products and Services Lowe's offers a comprehensive selection of products for construction, maintenance, repair, remodeling, and decorating needs. Yahoo Finance New Zealand Key product categories include: Appliances: A major focus, including refrigerators, washers, dryers, and ranges from various national and private brands. Building Supplies & Lumber: Essential materials like lumber, concrete, roofing, siding, and insulation. Tools & Hardware: A wide selection of hand tools, power tools, and accessories, featuring brands such as Craftsman and Kobalt. Lawn & Garden: Plants, landscaping materials, mowers, and outdoor power equipment. Paint & Flooring: A variety of interior and exterior paints (including the STAINMASTER brand), carpet, hardwood, and tile options. Kitchen & Bath: Cabinetry, countertops, sinks, faucets, and fixtures. Beyond products, Lowe's provides value-added services such as professional installation services (for things like flooring, cabinets, and appliances), extended protection plans, and a dedicated "Pro Services" program for contractors that offers bulk discounts and jobsite delivery. Operations and Strategy Lowe's operates an omnichannel business model, blending its extensive physical store network with a robust digital experience via its website and mobile app. This allows customers to research products online, check in-store availability, purchase online for in-store or curbside pickup, or arrange for delivery. As of early 2026, the company operates over 2,100 home improvement and hardware stores across the United States. The business strategy is customer-centric, serving both B2C (homeowners and DIYers) and B2B (professional contractors) segments. Its main competitor is The Home Depot. Community and Corporate Responsibility Through the Lowe's Foundation, the company supports communities by funding initiatives focused on creating safe, affordable housing and developing the next generation of skilled trade experts. A notable initiative is the $50 million Gable Grants program, launched in 2023, which partners with community colleges and technical schools to train skilled laborers for the workforce

I feel lied to about my dryer purchase. Was going to go elsewhere if they couldn't get a dryer this week. The kid who sold it to me specifically told me that they had one left available and it would be in by the 3rd of Feb. Tracking now says it wont be here till the 10th, and thats not even including scheduling install. I couldn't get it this week even if I had it installed myself.

Went to get a ton of pellets, they wanted $347 for a ton of cheap pellets. Even with the savings of a Lowe’s credit card it was cheaper ($319)to buy from Home Depot. Maybe it’s time to get a Home Depot card and cancel the Lowes card.
