  To be honest, I am not sure how to feel about this place. I only had a unit for a year and a half, and my unit was broken into last year (along with many others on the same floor) and then ultimately burnt to a crisp in February 2026. I did not lose anything during the robbery, but I lost EVERYTHING in the fire. I was originally told by a young lady that what was salvaged from my unit was placed in a spare unit for me to go through. I was under the impression that some of my things were saved, but when I got there, that wasn't the truth. All the items salvaged from ALL the units were placed in one room for us to go through. There was nothing of mine in that unit. :-( I am still absolutely devastated at the loss of my children's things, sentimental family pictures and heirlooms that I was saving for my house and were a part of my family for over 30 years. My belief is that the same folks responsible for the robbery were responsible for the fire. Of course management didn't provide any info about the fire.There was no apology from management, nothing but an email for me to look at the unit and if I didnt come by a certain date they were going to get rid of it. Although I chose not to opt in storage insurance, I had my own, but that does not replace the things I lost that were considered priceless. Extra Space storage reimbursed the payment I made on my unit for March but that was it. They washed their hands of the situation and left me to deal with the damage, which I have chosen to mentally bury. Shame on extra space storage for ultimately throwing up the peace sign for folks who did not use their insurance. Since you're not financially liable, its no longer your problem, but you failed to see the human aspect of it, only the business side....which is unfortunate, but how things go, I guess..... For the many people that lost precious heirlooms, pictures, furniture, priced and priceless items that meant the world to you due to the fire, I'm so deeply, very sorry for your loss. I have no other words as they may not make you feel better. But I believe in God Almighty and when we leave this earth, we will leave with nothing. All we can do is hold on to those memories in our hearts and minds, and make new ones as best we can. As I said a prayer for me, I prayed for you too.   NEVER AGAIN…I AM BEYOND DISTRAUGHT, HURT, VERY ANGRY WITH THIS COMPANY AND THIS PLACE!! LEAVING MY THINGS STORED HERE COSTED ME EVERYTHING. I MEAN EVERYTHING.

  I want to start my review by saying thank you to Tiffany and Jojo, at the Extra Space storage on Whitney Place in District Heights. Just a little detail, on February I had the great experience leasing a 10x20 unit from Kobi, very professional. On February 27 was my moving day. I had a 26 foot moving truck with 3 movers ready to unload. I could see black smoke as I was approaching the storage place, as we turned the corner, there it was black smoke everywhere, my storage place was on fire 🔥 firefighters from every district in PG county were lined up. My heart dropped not only for all the people who had there things in storage but the staff who were in disbelief too. I went to the office and told them I have my movers and I didn’t know what to do. Welllll in the midst of the caos Tiffany and Jojo, stayed calm and arranged for me to go to another location down the street. They transferred my information, honored my promo and in less than 10 minutes I was on my way. I feel bad for all those that were affected by the fire. I also want to mention how important it is to get that renters insurance 🙏🏾 thank you to Kobi, Tiffany and Jojo for your professional and courteous service.
