  Shifflett Tree Service has maintained our trees for many years. The family is always available when we need advice or tree care. The crews arrive on time, work carefully and efficiently, and clean up after the work is done. Unfortunately, we had to remove a diseased tree recently. The crew handled this dangerous job professionally and carefully. We would never consider a different service than Shifflett when we need tree work.

  We are very happy we chose Shifflett to remove and trim our trees in our backyard. Candy was very knowledgeable and professional. They were timely, did everything promised and cleaned up very well. I highly recommend them.

  Admittedly, I did not hire this company to provide any service. However, my neighbor did. The trouble with this company is that while providing service for my neighbor, they totally disregarded their impact to my property, including: (1) leaving many fallen branches all over my lawn for me to clean up, (2) climbing my fence to get on my lawn to swing the ropes on my neighbor’s trees, and finally, (3) the worst offense, parking their vehicles on my lawn tearing up newly seeded grass that I spent hours hand sowing. Interestingly enough, I have signs (yes, that’s plural) next to where the newly seeded grass was laid down that say “do not drive or park on the grass” and yet this company‘s employees totally disregarded the signs. Either the employees can’t read or the employees are inconsiderate. I suspect it is the latter based on their collective actions. How hard is it to walk over and discuss needing to get access to my property to provide the service to their client, cleaning up any mess made and respecting multiple signs? For what it is worth, I don’t hold my neighbors responsible here. It is up to the company to make sure that in the performance of their service they don’t impact the neighbors of their clients. This company didn’t do that. This is a warning that you may have angry neighbors come after you if you hire this company as they employ people who are very disrespectful individuals.

  I have lived in my home in Rockville for over 50 years. My home backs up to a small, mature woods. A week ago, an estimated 100 year old, 65 feet tall white oak tree uprooted and fell on the corner of my house, badly damaging the roof. I immediately called Shifflett Tree, who sent the owner of the company, Ernest Shifflett, to my house to survey the damage within a couple of hours. The next morning, he returned with a crew of about ten, several trucks, and a 60 foot crane truck, to safely lift the tree off the roof without causing any additional damage. Limbs were ground up in a chipper, the main body of the tree was sawn up with chain saws and hauled off in a truck. It took Shifflett Tree only about 3 hours to do all this while I watched. The fee was reasonable, given the magnitude of the job. I have used this business whenever I have needed tree service over 50 years and have never regretted my choices for Shifflett Tree.

  The crew was here on time with the right people and equipment, removed the large maple tree and stump, cleaned up the place, and left. A Great Job! Thank you!
