My two biggest issues are that they doubled my monthly rate at the 3-month mark, and the unit had a pest problem. The sudden price hike felt like a deliberate bait-and-switch. They reel customers in with a low introductory rate, then jack up the price once you're already moved in and feel too overwhelmed to leave. In today's economy, that kind of pricing practice is predatory, exploitative, and manipulative. It seems like their strategy relies on customers feeling trapped and too burdened by the logistics of moving out to push back. That may work on some people, but it didn't work on me. I left. If you're considering Extra Space Storage, I'd strongly urge you to ask upfront about rate increases before signing anything. ***Update: Thank you for the response, but it rings hollow and seems performative. When I received the rate increase letter, I gave notice almost immediately and made clear exactly why I was leaving, nearly 30 days before my move-out date. No one reached out then. No one tried to address the issue while it could have made a difference. By the time I posted this review, I had already signed a new unit, rented a truck, and done the physical labor of moving.
