Sales specialist Cayleene Roche at the Hadley store in Massachusetts was helpful, friendly and went above and beyond to assist me in purchasing a shop table. Friendly and pleasant as well. Really enjoy shopping there.

I bought a Kobalt drill 3 years ago and it started intermittently working. The light kept blinking indicating some sort of fault and kept shutting down the drill. It had a 5-year warranty and the owner's manual said to bring it back to any Lowe's with the receipt, for a replacement or a refund. So I brought it back, with the receipt, to the Hadley Lowe's that I purchased it from. The return counter clerk was not sure how to handle it, which was fine, he was a very nice guy, so he called the head cashier, Angelica. She said they only accept Craftsman tools for refunds or exchanges, not Kobalt. I showed her the owner's manual that says to bring it back to any Lowe's store for replacement or refund, but she said it doesn't matter what the manual says, they do not accept them and I would have to go directly to Kobalt. I was following the rules and was not sure why this was now becoming my problem. Before I left the store, I called Kobalt and they said, no problem, just return it to the store!! I told them the store would not accept it. So the Kobalt representative gave me a return authorization number to give to the store, and said she will stay on the phone and talk to the store, if necessary. I gave the return authorization number to the clerk and he called Angelica back again. She came out with a scowl on her face, clearly not happy that I was still there trying to exchange the drill. She was unsure of what to do with the return authorization number and had to contact someone else. I finally got my money back because my drill model was no longer available. Angelica grabbed my drill, turned around, and walked away. Never said any apologies, no "sorry for the inconvenience," no smile, no "have a nice day," no customer service qualities whatsoever. Clearly upset that I won and she lost. She made me do her job by obtaining the return authorization number from Kobalt, which is exactly what she would have had to eventually do. Even if the return policy had changed since the owner's manual was printed, which it did not, most customer oriented companies would have honored the policy that came with the product. Angelica clearly did not understand the return policy and was not very accommodating or friendly. Very frustrating experience. Update: Lowe's responded to my review and asked me to call them to discuss it, which I thought was a good idea. So I called the number they gave and explained to the representative that I was asked to call this number to discuss my online review. The representative had no idea what I was talking about and said this is only a customer call center and he could not help me. He offered to give me the number to the local Lowe's store which I did not need. Wow! I am starting to see a theme with this company!!
